Description
📍 Mompox
Life lulls in Mompox to the swaying of the breeze of the Magdalena River, the main artery of Colombia. This Heritage Town springs from an island that during the Conquest was a refuge for the gold and silver that the Spaniards took out of their kingdom. Mompox, whose historic center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, was founded in 1540 and is located about six hours from Cartagena.
The classic Sevillian-style architecture, the romanticism of its streets, the facades of the majestic colonial houses and the friendliness of its inhabitants make this town a magical place in Colombia, trapped in time.
