Description
📍 Cienaga Grande De Santa Marta
The Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta was created in 1977 and is located in the north of Colombia in the department of Magdalena. It covers 26,810 hectares.
This place is composed of lakes, swamps, mangroves and canyons. There are water complexes composed of more than 100 mangroves! It is a very important place for nature, since it has the largest complex of lagoons in Colombia. It is also a refuge for migratory birds that come from North America. The mangrove ecosystems help in different phases of the life cycle of mollusks, crustaceans and fish. Moreover, they also contribute to the conservation and survival of species in this area, as well as to the development of fauna and flora.
